Brahmatal Trek
Brahmatal Trek
The Brahmatal Trek is among the most popular winter treks in India, widely loved for its beginner-friendly trail and stunning snow landscapes. The journey leads trekkers through snow-covered paths to the serene Brahmatal Lake, believed to be the meditation site of Lord Brahma, the Hindu god of creation.
The trek starts from the charming village of Lohajung in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Reaching a maximum altitude of 12,250 feet (3,734 meters), the Brahmatal Trek is usually completed in 6 days and 5 nights, making it ideal for first-time winter trekkers.
Along the route, trekkers pass through dense oak and rhododendron forests, expansive alpine meadows, and snow-blanketed clearings that showcase the raw beauty of the Himalayas. The warm hospitality of local villagers offers a glimpse into the region’s rich culture and traditional mountain lifestyle.
One of the highlights of the trek is the spectacular panoramic view of snow-clad Himalayan peaks, which leaves trekkers truly mesmerized.
