The Har Ki Dun Trek is a scenic Himalayan journey known for its breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural experience. Located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, the trek begins and ends at the charming village of Sankri. Graded as a moderately difficult trek, it requires a reasonable level of fitness, making it suitable for trekkers with some prior experience. With proper guidance and support, trekkers of varying skill levels can successfully complete this adventure.

The Har Ki Dun Valley, situated at an altitude of approximately 11,700 feet, marks the highest point of the trek. The ideal time to explore this trail is during summer and autumn, and the entire trek can be completed in around 7 days. As the trail passes through the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary, trekkers may encounter rare Himalayan flora and wildlife along the way.

One of the highlights of the trek is the stunning view of the Swargarohini Peak, which appears majestic from multiple points along the trail. The valley is a paradise for nature lovers and photographers, offering endless opportunities to capture unforgettable moments. Beyond its natural beauty, the Har Ki Dun Trek provides a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of the Garhwali people. Altitude: Gain from ~2,100 ft to ~6,400 ft.

Details: Arrive at Sankri, your base camp. This scenic drive takes you through Mussoorie and the Yamuna Valley.

Distance/Duration: ~12 km drive to Taluka (1 hr) and ~10-12 km trek (5-6 hours).

Altitude: From ~6,400 ft to ~7,200 ft (Taluka) to ~8,200 ft (Seema/Pauni Garaat).

Details: The trek starts from Taluka, following the riverside through dense forests of chestnuts, walnuts, and conifers.

Distance/Duration: ~5-6 km trek, 4-5 hours.

Altitude: Gain to ~10,830 ft.

Details: This part of the trail involves a gradual ascent through ancient villages and picturesque views.

Distance/Duration: ~10-12 km round trip, 6-9 hours.

Altitude: Reach the highest point at ~11,600 ft / 12,720 ft and descend to the previous camp.

Details: Explore the stunning, cradle-shaped Har Ki Dun valley and Marinda Tal (lake) before returning to your camp (usually Kalkatidhar or Boslo).

Distance/Duration: ~10-12 km trek, 5-6 hours.

Altitude: Descend to ~8,200 ft.

Distance/Duration: ~12 km trek to Taluka, then ~12 km drive to Sankri.

Altitude: Return to Sankri base camp at ~6,400 ft.

Distance/Duration: ~190-220 km, 8-9 hours drive.

Details: Depart for Dehradun in the morning, arriving by the evening.
